Cods
The Atlantic Cod is hand carved from a single block of pine, a symbol of the growth and wealth of the state reaching back to its earliest days as The Massachusetts Bay Colony. The pine tree, its wood much valued by early New England settlers as a resource, is a symbol of the ire and resistance of the area’s revolutionary spirit when the colonies fought to establish a new nation. Available in a range of sizes and prices.
Seaport Walking Sticks
This stave is an extension of one’s own arm and reach: a weary walker’s companion, a support for the exhausted traveler. Greatly improved since early Homo sapiens were hacking branches off trees to lean on, the smart and clean lines make this walking stick is ideal for pointing out a direction, tracing a diagram in the dirt or waving off a pesky tourist or two (meter maid, bill collector, street vendor, scare off an intruder.
The design is simple enough to make of it what you will; magik staff, a prayer stick to accompany you on a spiritual journey, a story stick or, to minimize noise pollution, a “talking” stick, a handy conversational device because only the person holding the stick may speak.
Burdened travelers and fatigued shoppers have been known to use their sticks to carry packs over one shoulder, or heavy loads across both their shoulders. It’s been used to “skor” numerical information for the length of a measurement, a journey or trade or in more serious times defend against attack. And, for the more creative, take it home and decorate your own using knife and chisel. Turn your walking stick into a record of your journey or a place to capture totem type carvings of your own.
Whale Design Cutting Board
This artistically crafted whale is handmade from New England hardwoods and is guaranteed to add warmth to any home. Made with attractive and durable cherry and white oak, this item is intended for use as a wall or table display, or as either a serving board or a cutting board. Knife marks will only enhance the beauty of its food-safe, butcherblock finish. In the natural world, whales live through many decades and undertake some of the longest migrations on earth, often swimming many thousands of miles. Over time some accumulate many unique markings and scars, and each tells a story. After years of kitchen use, the naturally occurring patina that emerges from the intricately intertwined evidence of use, adds to the unique identity of this item.
